Hicorenergy Announces UL 9540 Certification with Sol-Ark Inverters

Energy storage manufacturer Hicorenergy has announced that it has successfully completed the rigorous testing and evaluation required to receive UL 9540 certification for its residential energy storage batteries, in combination with Sol-Ark inverters. This significant milestone marks a new chapter in Hicorenergy’s global expansion, particularly in the North American market.

UL 9540 is the definitive safety standard in North America for energy storage systems (ESS) and related equipment. The certification covers multiple safety parameters, including battery design, containment, functional integrity, fire detection and suppression, and environmental performance. Achieving this certification affirms the safety, reliability, and industry compliance of Hicorenergy’s energy storage solutions.

Hicorenergy’s residential ESS products are powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology—widely regarded as the safest lithium battery chemistry available. Unlike many systems built with cylindrical cells, Hicorenergy utilizes prismatic cells for enhanced performance, extended lifespan, and superior safety. For instance, the 48100R model features 5.12 kWh of energy capacity and supports 2.56 kW continuous charge/discharge, delivering up to 6,000 cycles under a 10-year warranty. All of this comes in a compact, 112.5-pound package.

To further optimize safety and performance, the batteries are integrated with Hicorenergy’s proprietary high current Battery Management System (BMS). This intelligent BMS includes closed-loop communication, automatically managing charge/discharge settings, balancing cells, and boosting overall efficiency. When paired with Sol-Ark’s 12K or 15K hybrid inverters, Hicorenergy batteries create highly adaptable residential ESS configurations—scalable up to the 20 kWh limit of UL 9540.

“Partnered with Sol-Ark hybrid inverters, Hicorenergy’s LFP batteries are quickly becoming a favorite among our customers,” said Echo Wang, head of the Hicorenergy USA subsidiary. “We’re proud to be among the few lithium battery manufacturers that have received UL 9540 certification. Our 48100R model also holds UL 1973 and UL 9540(A) certifications, which greatly streamline installation and permit approval processes for our clients. With these achievements, our customers can install Hicorenergy systems with complete peace of mind.”
